The replay engine (E93021 version)

On top of the original version of replay (maintained by Steve Wood), every experiment in Hall C tends to produce it's own version to fit its needs. There is a version for the Pion Formfactor experiment, which in time will undergo further construction. It is located in my home directory, ~volmer/replay_1_example_latest. The installation utility, oscarup, has been edited for use by the Pion Formfactor analyzers.

Running & Installing the replay engine

There is a documentation on how to install and run replay, originally edited by John Arrington. This document has been only slightly modified for E93021 to update on the present computer environment of TJNAF and locations of source files.

Please note that in the process of reshuffling resources in the wake of the E93021 experiment, pathnames in the files cited below may not be accurate at the present time. I have set up a new example directory in preparation of the upcoming replay_2 version of the fpi analyzer (JV, 2/4/98).

Make sure to read the textfile OSCAR_feb98.txt in /home/volmer/replay_example_latest, which may contain more information than the above documents.

Implementations in and comments on the E93021 replay version (not yet complete)

The E93021 replay version will remain under construction for a long time. Further additions and/or changes will be added to this list.

1/22/98

• Various parts of the replay engine underwent more or less undocumented changes, including the c_physics.f, and many parameter files. The most recent reference is a mirror of the online analyzer, located in ~volmer/replay_1_example_latest.

6/20/97

• Cleanup of the histogram files. Variables that previously had been calculated in the histogram files have been transferred into the engine. More variables have been added. The histograms have been updated and arranged.
• Additional cuts in the test file.

Produced a working macroscan utility. Activated by typing
'exe ~volmer/work/paw/fpi_online.kumac'
inside PAW or PAW++. The kumac file asks for the run number and for the mode of viewing.

• The coincidence physics part has taken a major step towards flexibility. It now can handle pion production as well as elastic scattering off 1H. Please read the documentation in README.latest_additions to learn how to supply run information in the file DBASE/oct96.kinematics!

5/16/97

• FR derastering in vertical direction works
• The coincidence physics part assumes pions in the HMS and electrons in the SOS, and LH₂ as target. We'll go for more flexibility soon.
• For reasons of comparing proton- to deuteron-runs the target is regarded as LH₂ for all runs at the moment. I will make the code more flexibel, so the individual analyzer can decide for himself how to treat them by defining the target in his own DBASE/oct96.kinematics file.
